HOLY THURSDAY OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
Mgr. George Nkuo, Bishop of Kumbo celebrated the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, on Holy Thursday, 09/04/2020 at the Chapel of the Bishop’s house on the presence of Religious and some lay faithful. The Celebration started at 5:00 p.m.
In his Homily, Bishop Nkuo highlighted the great act of love which Jesus showed mankind when he instituted not just the sacrament of the priesthood, a fascinating and tremendous mystery, mysterium tremendum et facinans, but also the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the sacrament of Love, sacramentum caritatis . For the prelate, the command to fraternal love which Christ taught by the act of the washing of the feet, calls on us to reflect on the fact that God kneels down, he stoops so low, to wash our feet, challenging us to humility. Ending the homily, His Lordship noted that we should push no one on our way in the search for life’s destiny but instead learn to wash other people’s feet in acts of love and humility. He also wished all the priests of Kumbo a very happy anniversary.
At 6:10 p.m the Bishop led the adoration of the blessed sacrament when together with those present he prayed for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic and an end to the Crisis.
