The Catholic Diocese of Kumbo was erected by Pope St John Paul II on Thursday, 18 March 1982. It is a diocese of the Roman rite of the Catholic Church.
Most Rev. Msgr. George Nkuo is the second residential Bishop of the Diocese of Kumbo. He was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006.
The Diocese currently has six (6) main pastoral divisions (Deaneries). These are further divided into Parishes/Pastoral Zones. As of December 2019, there are twenty-eight (28) Parishes and nine (9) Pastoral Zones.
