Friday, Nov.15, 2019 will always be for the people of Kikaikom a joyful memoir as they had the chance to participate at Holy Mass again celebrated on their own soil in their own parish Church, after 3months of hunger for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and a Priest who acts in _persona Christi capitis_ .

Mgr. George Nkuo, Bishop of Kumbo, 15 Priests of the Kumbo Presbyterium, 2 Deacons and a handful of Religious, with more than 500 layfaithful from all the Mission Stations of the parish, Christians from other denominations and Moslems gathered in the main mission to reopen the parish and reinstall the Blessed Sacrament, Source and Summit of all Christian activities. After a warm welcome by the people at 8:50a.m, it was at about 9:00a.m that Holy Mass started. The Bishop, in his homily, intimated that he was happy to be back to the place also called his ” _second home”._ “God never abandons us, the hardships and troubles we experience daily are opportunities for growth and so we must give away all false gods so that God may make us men and women of faith,” said the Bishop. The central aspect of the Catholic faith, he continued, is the Sacred Body and precious Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist. And so the reopening of the parish is a chance for the people to live and practice their faith and celebrate it in their Community following what the Church stipulates.

Through thick and thin, through bikes and dust, through rough roads and insecurity, the Bishop and Priests and most of the participants during this occasion came to witness the marvels of the Lord. But it was a unique experience for others.

Rev Fr. Edwin Boye Kinga S.D, was, by this Celebration, officially named the interim Parish Priest. The Parish Pastoral Council chairperson spoke words of love and gratitude to the Bishop for his continuous support to the faithful of Kikaikom. She promised publicly, on behalf of the Christians to help guarantee the security of the priest and the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Edwin too thanked all present and promised his pastoral availability to the people he will henceforth minister to.

It should be noted that Kikaikom parish was officially erected in 2012 by Mgr. George Nkuo. The reopening of the parish comes 3 months after the people have lived without the celebration of any Sacrament. And so, even the Moslem Community could not but join their Christian brethren to welcome the Bishop and reopen their house of worship. For the Catholic Christians of Kikaikom, through this celebration, God has come to dwell again with his people.

Various church groups continued animating after Mass to add more beauty to the already colorful celebration.
